I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
3/-/38 of your despatch No.27 of 20th January, 1939, on the
subject of the King Edward VII Scholarships at Hong Kong University, and note that provision for the usual grant of £300 is being made in the United Kingdom Estimates
for 1939/40.

The University authorities have now expressed
agreement with the proposals contained in the Colonial
Secretary's letter of 28th October, 1938, of which a
2/-/38 copy was enclosed with my despatch No.872 of 29th
November, 1938. It has, however, been agreed that the
position should be reviewed at the end of three years.
